Can't see a POLL from the app on my phone, but my girlfriend and I are members of the Southeast Louisiana Aquarium Society aka SELAS

Made a bunch of new friends. We attend monthly/bimonthly club socials hosted by club members. We have silent auctions, door prizes, families and children are welcome and usually have kids pick names for door prizes to get them involved. It gets funny when the kids bid in the auctions sometimes. The club has also had guest speakers and gone on field trips in the past. I recently became a moderator for our club's BAP program. All in all, it's been a great experience since we joined.

Great to hear - wondering why more folks on MFK haven't joined clubs. Some don't have them in their area....but others?

That's great and happy that Scott started a new club in York!

You're, of course, more than welcome to come down to Silver Spring, MD for CCA monthly meetings and for our Mar 9-10 AquaMania weekend event (we're having Ad Konings, Ken Davis and Rachel O'Leary as speakers)!

Today I became a member of The Cichlid Club of York. http://www.cichlidclubofyork.com
I'm looking forward to going to my first meeting soon. The club also has monthly auctions (guess I need to get some more room for new fishies!).

I'm here, I'm here! Just saw your thread. ;)

Atlanta has a very very good freshwater club, and a saltwater (reef) one as well. I think that many MFKers aren't MORE involved with local aquarium clubs because they collect to the EXCLUSION of other freshwater fish. However, I got my Polypterus endlicheri and ornatipinnus from the Buy/Sell/Trade subforum for the Atlanta Area Aquarium Association -- hopefully you're LOOKING for links to clubs, so here you go: http://www.atlantaaquarium.com/activity.php -- they have a great web presence, which was key to getting me involved. Always good, engaging talks, and MINI-AUCTIONS at the end of every meeting! The club also hosts a summer picnic and holiday party, and semi-annual larger auctions -- there is a monthly event of SOME sort. It is absolutely mind-blowing to me that you can get SO MUCH plant material so inexpensively, which is still useful for folks who keep larger creatures.
