So I have an extra 10g, already cycled and running nicely. I also seem to have a pair of jewel cichlids, around 2.5". Is that a suitable breeding environment? The tank was used to breed crayfish in the past. But since I have to rehome my big cat, no need for endless crays anymore.

That's a little small for jewels...why not keep some small oddballs in there, like blind cave tetras

Well I don't have a need for large crays anymore. However, I have a real need for healthy feeders. I was looking for small cichlids that breed quick. I was just thinking jewels since I have them already. Is there a better suggestion?

you could do a pair of convict cichlids

Jewels are a bad idea... After mine bred they became VERY TERRITORIAL in a 40 gallon (just them...) NOW THEY ARE DIVIDED.... But, they do not breed as fast as cons so, do cons... BUT A TEN GALLON IS STILL PRETTY SMALL FOR EVEN CONVICTS ID SAY A 20 GALLON MINIMUM OR GUPPIES:D

Yes no doubt... They are THE FASTEST BREEDING FISH YOULL FIND... And if you are just planning on keeping for feeders a 10 gallon is FINE!:)
