thanks for sharing the growing process. I've been wanting to see that.

Because I now have a 2" and a 4.5"

When I got them I started looking through the gorillus and got hooked. I really like these F1 sub adults. Pretty crazy looking and unexpected coolness. To be honest, seeing the parents I thought these were gonna be ugly, but now that thought had reversed after seeing the blues shine like this and the head patterns of the f1s

I like both my Gorillus blues. Who cares if they were discovered before. Dinosaurs once existed but where are they now?

Yeah, he's ok I guess. And by ok I mean drop dead gorgeous! You are a stronger person than I, being able to part with such a stunning specimen. Congrats on doing such an amazing job caring for this fish. Hellscream has me really wanting a blue ape of my own!! Merry Xmas UmbeeKing!

Accepted, no worries. I read many earlier threads on this fish, and saw some of the commentary, I can understand. The fish is impressive. Do you expect anything in the way of articles or other documentation of bringing this variant to the hobby to be published beyond the threads on this board? I think the last article on umbies was in Cichlid Magazine re: the green variant which was quite a few years ago.

No Im not the first to discover an Umbee but I am the first to discover this new color variant for this amazing hobby of ours. Also I have shown you all that there is more variation to Caquetaia umbriferus then just Rio mags and Panama Greens. Thanks again :)

Thank you brother, This whole project has been nothing but rewarding and Im glad im able to share this amazing fish with you all. I cant wait to see how yours are looking :)

I would Love to see that, Only then would I disclose Gorillus Blues location point. How would one go about doing that? MonsterFishKeepers is my home and is the only public forum I have ever been apart of. I went to collect Umbriferus out of my pure Passion for this fish and found a lot more then I set out for. There have been a few Members here that stepped up to help me get in contact with some important people in the cichlid world when I first went public with this fish but none of these people have responded to my emails. Another member was so helpful that I sent a few fish to him in Florida to have them tested by a well known scientist to see if they were in fact a color variant of Caquetaia Umbriferus as I originally suspected or if it was a new species or sub species. Results came back that they are in fact Caquetaia Umbriferus but a new color variant and Per the scientist clearly there is more variations to this species then what have been known. That was prior to my release of them earlier this year and no longer used sp.Gorillus in there scientific title but Gorillus as a common name to describe the black, red freckled Umbee. There is so much more to tell but my time is always short and so are my response most of the time when I am on this forum. This is my first great fine and Im sure it wont be the last as I plan to go on more collecting trips in the Americas and continue to bring in new blood or new color variants of whatever species I am into. People forget that I am a hobbyist/collector Not a Scientist, publisher, writer etc. and expect me to know or do more. Everything I know about cichlids have been self taught, learned from books or from observing Cichlids in the wild. Never a member of the ACA or any other cichlid clubs that would help or guide me to the right people for these kinds of things. I am also not a politician and hate to see it in our hobby. I don't think there should be any as everything on them should be science and science should be facts right? So with that said, I have been getting the word out on these amazing Umbees, the ways I know how, MFK,YOUTUBE.. Do you know someone that would be interested?

Here are my progression videos of "Hellscream." First is youngest to eldest video.

lol

Going out there catching them and stuff; man that's hardcore.

Im gonna be optimistic and hope to see something else different next few years from U.

Gorillus blues F1s are shocking surprises. A lot of ppl out there like to think they've seen it all and know it all, but really, they only know a lil bit in every department. All they do is bring articles from the internet to discredit your capture, but you actually bring the fish bro.

GL to another new Umbee for the next decade.
