Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on why these spots are showing up on my gold severum. This is the only fish in my tank that has this discoloration , it appears almost as if he is dirty or something. All parameters are fine and do 50 % weekly water changes. Thanks for any opinionsIMG_0363.JPGIMG_0365.JPGIMG_0369.JPGIMG_0367.JPG

What spots are you referring to if I may ask?

The red spots are normal coloring for the golds. My hunch is that you are talking about something else, like grey patches near the dorsal fin that I can just make out in above photos?

Just an FYI. When I first got my red spot severum he had grey discoloring on him. Sort of like flaky skin or slime and it looked like he had dirty spots. I searched and asked questions, even medicated for costia ( see http://www.gbasonline.org/disease_chart.htm )which did nothing. After all was said and done, the only thing that seemed plausible for my fish from talking with others was ammonia burns from poor shipping. The grey lasted I would say 6 months and then disappeared as the fish grew.

I hope this is helpful.

if you are talking about red spots ...you have a RED sev... reg. golds actually dont have much ..reds DO...

Here is a picture of my red spot when he was about 1.5/2.0 inches. Hard to see but there is grey on his body. I described it like old skin that is flaking after a good sun burn. Was hard to picture. Hope you can see it on the middle back half of his body. Is this the type of "spots" you are seeing?
