In case you weren't aware of it, in Alberta it's illegal to collect, transport, or keep in captivity, native species such as Northern Pike.

Thanks officer, I guess I'll go club him on the head and toss him in the dump, ugg no actually did I say pike? Umm I ment Pleco ya a northern Pleco oh sorry I'm in the wrong thread, no pike here.....

Been traveling over the holidays, tried to post a video I had on my phone of pike tank, it wouldn't upload, not sure what I'm doing wrong, have never posted a video here... otherwise, I'll update when I get back next week

Interesting. I wasn't aware that natives were illegal to keep here. I don't have any myself, though understand their appeal. Especially something more managable like a perch.

Anyways cool fish I didn't know till this year (well past year) that muskie were different fish :p I thought it was just another American thing like pickeral and walleye :p. Anyway cool fish tthey look awesome but always suck when you get them on the line...

I need to spark up my fish life

Ok I'll say sorry then, I figured you were pulling the standard fish police routine that forums tend to have, I know about the rules here and I don't really care, I'm not concerned with Alberta wildlife kicking in my door and even if they showed up they couldn't do squat anyway,

You can keep natives, just not from native waters. :)

Oh, and crabs - if I was a fish dick I would have simply contacted one of the admin here, had your IP addy pulled, and paid you a visit. I was simply pasing on some info that you may or may not have been aware of.

Fish dick. That one made me lol.

I'm visualizing a Gary Larson comic with fish in trench coats and fedoras.....they try to kick in crabs door.....but they have no legs.....

Not to totally derail this thread, but just to demonstrate how truly large these fish can get, back in 1974 when I caught my first Muskie on hook & line, the legal limit for size was I believe 30". Anything under that had to be released. I was young & stupid or I would have released mine, as it was still just a baby at only 33". (84cm)
