My Muskie

Because once they gain some size to them, only those with decent sized ponds can properly house them. And it's not like one has a lot of options for keeping other native species in a pond that contains muskie..
Well, muskies are not the only fish in the hobby that grow to a huge size...what you have stated can apply to quite a few large growing fish that are available.

Pike/Muskie are prone to banging into glass because of the way they hunt. If I had to give dimensions I would say nothing less than 8-10x the length of the fish(even male pike grow to 2')
In ponds one can go lots smaller.

Correct, same rules apply to those fish as well. Everyone wants an Arapaima gigas, maybe 1% of those that buy one will be able to house it long term. It is what it is. Muskies are available via certain channels, just not typically at the vast majority of LFS hence the reason you see & hear less about them in the hobby.

Now that kind of answers the question that I originally posed.I did get my tiger from a store that is now closed though...It's a good thing too as we don't need another potentially huge growing fish to be readily availible to the vast majority of unequipped hobbyists.

This sadly applies to quite a lot of fish that should not be availabel. And het, everyday i seen new rtc's coming in to the Lfs i usually go to. People just don't learn.

I have a northern in a 180g and he's the coolest fish I've owned, I've had him about 9 months, he gets fed almost every day about 4-5 smelt and his growth is so minimal I can't tell for sure if he's even got bigger, right now he's in the 17-18" range and eats every tank ate I've tried to add including a 12"pike,I know he has the potential to get very large but I don't see him topping the 2' mark any time soon and his tank is in a garage that I could build a very large tank in if I needed too so I don't need a lecture about how big you think my fish is gonna get unless you have one at home and actually know something about it

crabs ........... Is your pike captive bred?

In case you weren't aware of it, in Alberta it's illegal to collect, transport, or keep in captivity, native species such as Northern Pike.
