What do you guys think about feeding frozen foods? I think feeding Shrimp, Tilapia, Crickets, and Silver Sides would all benefit your fish to have a few times a week.

supplementation never hurts as long as it in moderation IMO. I prefer to feed only pellets to my fish though.

Ok thanks for the help fish man! I think I'll feed Hikari Floating foods for my Aro and Bass and then some sinking Thera A Large fish formula that way everybody in the tank can get some including the ray and catfish.

All I can find on Amazon are the 3 mm size and then 7.5. I'm looking for something around 5 or 6mm. Does NlS make food around that size?

I bought my 4.5mm from eBay. They have jumbo as well. Try searching both 7.5mm and jumbo.

Hikar Carnisticks is one of the messiest pellet I have had experience with. Never again will I feed it. Two bags was enough.

Aros sticks I like, altough, as said, when compared to NLS, it causes considerably more waste, spilled by the gills of the fish.

MrMann what i suggest you do with your umbees is try the 6mm sinking pellet to get them to make the switch since its both large and sinks like massivore and then once they switch over if they chew too much and pellet dust is extruded switch to a smaller size. My umbee pair (15.5"-13"+) eat mostly 3mm but they will also go just as nuts for 1mm as 6mm. Once they realize its food they wont care if its small or large. Also I have found that a lot of the time if the pellet is too big its hard to get fish to switch to NLS as they arent use to such dense food and when its too big its just too much work for them to get enthused over. Hope that helps:)

I'll give it a try trace...Thank you! My umbees eat the massivore before it even hits the water pretty much so I don't think they will mind if it sinks or floats.

If that's the case, I would recommend going with the floating. Due to their design which allows them to float, they are much less dense/hard than the 6mm sinking. IMO it's always easier to convert fish to floating NLS pellets, vs sinking.

My umbees have recently been ignoring my 2mm NLS (theiry staple growing up) and 3mm as well; both sinking. I feed them shrimp and massivore on the weekends and they have since been weaned off of NLS. My fault.

I have some floating 4.5mm NLS coming this week, hopefully I can get them back on track.

These umbees (gorillus) are smart. They dont mind ignoring food (NLS) for 4-5 days until they get the treats on the weekend.

I guess I shouldve not given them treats unless they've eaten during the week. LOL
