Oscar all the way. much more interactive and more personable. My big oscar rules the tank, is normally very calm, but is absolutely hillarious when he's pissed off
Most jds I've had find a spot and hide all day if they're with more aggressive fish. The Oscar will stay out in the open and take his beating like a man.

I have both and I'd swear the JD is part nocturnal catfish cause all you ever see is his head poking out of the cave. The O's on the other hand are like attention hogs and won't let you look at anything else without being right there, but also least I get to see them. That's why I pick O's.

JD. My JD doesnt ever hide and is always out. Whenever I walk up to the she's the first to come up to me plus they look alot better than a oscar IMO.
I like the look of JD too. Guess I just haven't gotten lucky enough to have one with a personality.

Jack dempsey, if we are talking about fighting then its a hard choice for me atleast i've kept JD's and Oscars, i think it's a tie for fighting but for appearance the JD by far.. O's are very plain and boring when it comes to Color unless its an grey oscar (wild), or the lovely Lime Oscar which i think is amazing. But JD's are pretty the sparkles they have around there gills and red on top of the fin and the black stripes fading in and out.
