new stock list will they all work ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No to the alligator gar, will get way too big. The ornate may be capable of eating the silver at that size, might snatch it at night while it's sleeping. Try growing the silver out to near the same length of the ornate before attempting to mix them because ornates tend to be one of the more fish aggressive polys and will eat fish that it can fit in its mouth. The bass may also be some pretty expensive meals for that large ornate.

are florida gars ok if not a alligator then ?

They are the smallest true gars that you can get and not as aggro as alligators and some people keep them in smilar setups so it could work. You can never be sure when keeping preds together though but you can try all kinds of combos. What works with some fish of one species might not work with other fish of the same species.

go for a jardini or black aro... all silvers get drop eye, its horrible to see their eyes all messed up no cure and it will get it almost definitly! black will fit in your tank better aswell, a 4 foot silver is huge and to big for a 300!

Ya I thought about a jardini but heard they can go "awall" and kill themselves or others in the tank, and a black aro is BIG $$ down here in Ontario, I've read/heard to help try and prevent drop eye is to toss in a ball to float on the surface so they focus on that rather then fish under them

Dragons had a couple 6-7" black aros for $89 when I was there last month.
An alligator gar could reach 2 1/2ft in its first year. Florida gar could work. Just watch it though and keep it well fed. I had one I kept with smallmouth bass bigger than it and the gar would shred their fins when the lights went out.

damn, that aint bad 89bones for a 6-7" are black aro's all black or just have blck across the back/top side ....i usually keep all my fish well fed helps keep there aggression down i find maybe it just me tho lol ...maybe if i get a florida gar and make sure he on the "smaller" end of the line he'll be ok ?.... something to defintly consider tho....

wish this darn kid would pull through for these friggin oscar i have here, cant add or buy my new stock list till i move these oscar's out

Black aros are a waste of money and not worth the hype IMO. They are just a slender variant of silver aros. They fade out to a light grey as they get bigger. Just looks like you have a thin silver. LoL

Ya I youtube'd black aro's and saw when they get big there almost like a charcoal/grey colour, I still think a silver aro looks nicer as some get that dark brown/grey/black on there top across there back and usually get quite thick from what I've seen maybe I'll stay with a silver... We will see what discount dragon has when I go there, likely going to come home with like 5 fish lmao gotta make my trip worth it, then I don't need to make 5 or 6 different trips either haha, ya have any orino's left or yours all gone ?
