Wxcept when they spew musk all over you, Kev!

Yeah, musk is to be avoided haha.

And I'm really just exploring options with this. I may still get a chameleon or some type of lizard or possibly even a tortoise or turtle.

Jungle carpet python. i had one i could take anywhere. the only thing i had to worry about was her wacking her head on door frames and such, cause she always had her head way atop mine.

My kindergarten science teacher had a 2 foot corn snake that was our class pet. This corn snake was so human friendly, it was very, very old. I held it numerous times and being 5 years old that says a lot. Unfortunetly a student decided to attack the snake and pulled its tail and the snake repeatedly tried to get away and warningly hissed. Finally it bit the kid and the parents demanded the snake be put down. It was put down a few weeks later after a brief court battle. I would hardly even call it a bite, it was more like a light snip on the finger to tell him to not do it again. Their was no blood. But yes in my little experience, corn snakes are safe.

Kinda sounds like you want a reptile you can hold and interact with. Chameleons are just for viewing really, and don't appreciate being held for their 3-5 year life span. Tortoises live a really, really long time, and the cool ones get very large, often needing outdoor enclosures. The more reasonable Greek and Russians are (in my opinion) one of the most boring reptiles around. Consider an Australian water dragon. One of my favorite lizards by far if you can properly house one.

I had a croc monitor that I had to let go because he was just to much for me to handle. Was by far the coolest herp Ive ever owned. But I would much rather take a big, mean retic any day over that crazy thing. Some lizards can be a whole lot worse than snakes.
