Any One Here Own a Cephalosilurus Apurensis???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Guys, I noticed a common thing on this species these years which is most of them but not all have unproportional sized eyes and angles (1 side slant and 1 side straight) . So whenever I ran into this species I would always go for the eyes first. My current pcs seems to have too but I would say very very little size diff only and at least the angle is rite btw the two eyes. Anyway I used to have 2 before which are perfect. Likely born with them. Yup, i agree improving water quality and meds and antics should always be our last resort. Melafix does great on cloudy eyes and mild enough on catfishes. And of coz Tetracycline.

Yeah, I think I see now what you mean about the bad eye.

Well, actually, I'd have to change my mind and agree with you - I'd not be completely happy with such a fish either, especially given the many excellent sellers we are spoiled by :) I don't think we are derailing - as we discussed with Koltsix, Shark Aquarium is one of very few sources for Cephalosilurus - him and I got ours from Shark Aquarium, NJ and from River Wonders, CA. I am a bit surprised Koltsix has not piped in yet.

Thank you for your understanding. Your right, koltsix should be chiming in soon and defending the supplier of his beloved fish. Just guessing.;)

Wow!Hotdog is cool. Lol. I fed mine with juv barramundis and marbled gobies gut loaded with carni pellets. And also free flow of gf feeders which is also on carni pellets. I fed these as I am rather a lazy fish keeper.... Still stucked with my Asterophysus keepin method haha..

Could you elaborate on the asterophysus keeping method??

Nothin much actually juz keepin well fed gf feeders or ornamental gfs with them. That way I will have healthy, active self huntin, well fed and fast growin Ogre cats hassle free. And the main thing is that gfs are great in cleaning up or rather they eat up all the Ogres' waste matter lest seein all the sh** on the tank floor(I don't use substrate on these catfishes) They sure grew fast from 4cm-15cm or more in juz a couple of months(2-3).Water change 20-30% every 2 months.
