What life lessons have you learned from aquarium keeping?

A watch pot never boils so watch your tanks and they wont over fill.

Honestly what I have learned is the same I have learned from all my hobbies, whether its photography, automotive or fish. People who aren't into your hobby will look at you like you have leprosy if you talk about it, people who share the hobby will be instant friends that you can talk to for hours on end upon meeting, if you dive deep enough your hobby will expand to all aspects of your life intertwining with any other hobbies you have. Eg: I went for a drive through the hills to the river today with friends, collected some driftwood for my tanks and the took photos of the sunset and headed home again.

Being short on money & far from good lfs's will force you to be patient, and patience is everything!
I have Everything. but not voluntarily.
LOL.

oh another one is never walk away from the bucket when syphoning the water for a water change !!! i seem to do that every once in a while and pay for it !

My gf does the same thing all the time lol...she's hot though so I don't care. She has a nice clam...IN HER SALTWATER TANK!!! Heads out of the gutter you sicko's! Lol!

It has thought me that some times, no mater what you do or how hard you work ...some times it will just NEVER turn out.
You just have to let go and let things take there course.
(like when trying to save a fish...or re decorate a tank perfectly as you imagined it...ext)

ive also had a glass top randomly smash to smitherienes in the middle of the night . blew right up in my bedroom . glass everywhere i woke up blamed my boyfriend for recking the house ! lol lesson learned ... dont just use random glass on the top of the aquarium. not sure if it was tempered glass or not ....

Just wanted to add the statement "practice makes perfect" is very true, especially when aquascaping ;)
