White worms in my tank?

I am noticing small white worms in my tank. They are as thin a a piece of thread and they are only 1/4 inches long. Everytime when i'm doing a WC, i can see a large colony swimming in the water. Are they dangerous to fish? Are they inteernal paracites. How do I get rid of them? Thanks.

Planaria perhaps?
It's from old food in the tank.

Yeah,such worms are usually harmless but occur when there is a bio load issue of some kind.

It means you are overfeeding to the extreme. If it is planaria you SHOULD have ammonia in your tank cuz it means theirs stuff rotting in your tank.

Some very small fish eat them.

just get some little dinos or somthing small thell eat them in a hurry, and they are not harmful to your fish , i had them in my my tank and then i bought afew dinos and they ate the worms befor my fish could eat them.

Where did they come from?

Could come from anything. Most commonly live worms like black worms, bloodworms, etc..

Good question,I don't know how they find their way into a system but they are an indicator of lax husbandry....Dormant eggs perhaps.
