My old LMB from many moons ago LOVED peas. He was, uh, special though. lol

I never noticed any ill effects from it.

My LMB eats anything that hits the water (including nibbling on fingers), very aggressive feeder, there was no training needed to ween him onto pellets. As for the peas, mine steals my pleco's large wafers so I sure hope vegi's are good ;) I honestly wouldn't worry about the peas, starve him for a few days and drop a pellet or two in. Generally LMB aren't going to be shy so it should notice the addition of food. The starving will make it accept the pellets more readily and a few days really won't hurt it. Best of luck, and nice looking fish :)

As for other foods you may want to try, tilapia fillet is my go to for carnivorous fish, chopped up shrimp and prawns will do well too. NLS or Massivore pellets will work well as a dietary staple. Night crawlers will also be a great treat, if you've got a fishing/outdoor store nearby they'll have a good stock. Hope that helps.

lol awesome thanks Chicxulub ! :) Did your lmb eat pellets? mine just refuses ... any ideas on other foods that he might eat to give him a balanced diet ??

Mine was a voracious eater who would eat anything that hit the water. For pellets, he ate Hikari Cichlid Gold. I got him eating them by putting small dead crickets in the tank and while he was eating the floating crickets (which he loved), I would drop in some pellets. He would eat the pellets while he was gobbling up the crickets and not even notice he ate something different. It wasn't long before I was able to give him a staple of pellets.

If it can eat peas, why not pellets? lol

my 5 inch LMB pounds at 5 cichlid pellets every night!

Bugs. Any bugs. Beetles, spiders, centipedes, stinkbugs, worms, slugs, flys, caterpillars, you name it - my bass eats it. Once a week I stuff him on raw market shrimp or minnow/feeders but the rest of the time its whatever. If you can get crickets, they love them too. I can put a small piece of plywood behind my house and in 2 days have all kinds of critters to feed him. :)
