Red Light Cameras....who's got em in their town?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are all over FL, we don't just have photo cameras we have video cameras too and they will give you a link to view it when they send the letter. I know someone who got caught doing a "california roll" at a right hand turn on a red light and got a letter with a video link and fine. its a $100-300 fine and 3 or 4 points on your license. There are people here who get out of them though due to some sort of error with the system, not sure if its fixed now or not.

There are a couple here in tampa, I have been popped twice! One time I tried to argue with my boss saying how do they know its me if a few people drive that company vehicle, then he turned the page and sure enough another pic of me with a stupid look on my face as I went through the light.... The part that annoys me the most is I found out the county doesn't even get the money ,something like 90% of the ticket cost goes directly to the company that installed and maintains the cameras. That was a few years ago though so maybe it's changed

California Roll,I've never heard of that....Here we are allowed turn right on a red light if there are no signs posted that says that we can't...You guys get some pretty big fines compared to what we get here.

we got em down here. the fines are more than a measly $100 though. a lot of intersections need them because dumb people always end up blocking the intersection.

only time one of them got me was when I was in a rental car, lucky me, it never got traced to me. so if you are in a rental, have at it

Well you are allowed to do that here but you have to come to a complete stop first. In FL we call it a "california roll" when you slow down almost to a stop but don't stop completely and then keep going, which you are not allowed to do - you have to completely stop first, the state of FL seems anal about this b/c people get video fined or pulled over for it all the time.

The speed cameras on the highway through town could go away, they don't do much other than act as a permanent fundraiser. But the red light cameras that were placed at the most dangerous intersections in town have done a lot to reduce accidents. It was bad enough that when you had a green you could expect people to run the red for at least one or two seconds. This caused the people who were stuck not going on the green to then run the red when they got the chance. This situation escalates until there is an accident and the entire intersection shuts down. Once the cameras were put up this activity has dropped significantly.

I know someone who was cheating and his wife saw the car photo with the girl on the side......BUSTED

Gotta love tinted windows....Ash yeah,we also have to come to a complete stop and then procede.
