So I've reads few of the stickies and kinda sorta understand the basic of plants. I have a 6' 180 gallon tank with rocks, driftwood(with a 12"+ java fern), and two plants(being a java fern and amazon sword). I want to add more plants. Preferable taller plants and mossy plants.

Tank specs: 4' LED light by marineland, 3" of pool filter sand and decent filtration. I don't have a CO2 system or any plant chemicals but will buy them if required.

Fairly new my self, but if I can help- You are looking to go towards a low-tech method (no C02)
Iron(for more Red color on plants/or you can get Red led light) additive, Fert is for the color and lushness of the plant, anyone is welcome to correct if i've mistaken..

If the original plants are thriving then you can just add more plants, Wisteria? Depends on the look your going for and im sure you would want tall plants for more hiding spots for the Payara?

Cheers! if or any help!

Anubias are always good starter plants. I have some Anubias Nana Petites and those are my favorite. Since you're looking for taller plants, Water Wisteria is also pretty easy to keep plant. Give it some good light and Flourish Excel and it grows super fast.

How heavy of a planted tank do you want? Like the whole substrate is covered with plants? Or just a few patches here and there?

few patches. nothing really substantial. i was told the other day that these are low care plants but im not sure. its the plant on the left. i forgot what its called though. and there is another type i got but i also forgot. i was just told that its very easy to care for and my lfs was having a 60% off day so why not lol.

If you are after low maintenance plants, then anubias is one of your best bets since they come in a wide variety of sizes... if your lucky, you can find some pretty big anubias plants at the LFS'... at least thats true for around my neck of the woods...

Looks like they're some type of crypt. Just stick them in and leave them. I've heard they hate being moved around though. I just stocked my 29 gallon full with plants when a LFS had their plants 50% off.

i would have done the same thing, except when my store has a 60% off sale they just double all their prices so you dont really save a ton of money. plus the place was shoulder to shoulder and i got what i could lol.
