i call it one group of people telling another group of people you cant alter your dogs apperance unfair.its not the goverments place to tell me i cant have my rotties or cane corso or neos tail docked.if going to a vet and having a proceder done to a doberman i bought,because i dont like floppy ears is abuse.thats crazy.its abuse if it dose harm to the dog.imo if done by a vet i dont have any problem with it.my mastiffs tear there ears all the time.so a cropped ear would actually be better for them.what upsets me is people purchassing working dogs and not resarching and understanding what these dogs where breed for,most people are to weak minded in todays society to deal with large breed dogs.now thats abuse because the dog is unbalanced and ends up in a shelter.i respect u if u dont want tails and ears cropped but where does it end.i dont know if u have kids but in theory then a parent shouldnt have a childs ears pierced beause they didnt make the choice.anyways theres always to sides to everything its just how i feel about it.

I spoke of "cropped" ( done as you know as babies by a qualified vet ) and not chopped, as uou describe it. It is not as if the owner grabs an axe and out with the tail...that would be abuse of the worst kind.
Ear cropping has a purpuse in many breeds, even if only aestethical, nowadays. Heck, it was the standard of a lot of breeds untill very recently.
So does tail although the practical function is not so obvious, imho. It was more a standard thing.
And i grew up with cropped eared dobbies, neos, boxers, danes, etc, etc.
And i grew up wit cropped tails on Rottweillers, one third cropped on Neapolitans, etc, etc..
I hate the way they look now. But that is a personal thing.

Never, because dog fighting does not even enter into my reasoning or heart, when i think dogs..
It recalls me of large prey hunting, it recalls me of their fdunction as guard dogs, in guard breeds. The added respect a well cropped guard dog inspires...

Oh I was talking about having it done by a vet. Even thou I have seen some one try it their self. Just put it as it didn't end good for the dog
I know some breeds need it like Rottweilers and boxers but as for pits I disagree with it unless its for the dogs health.

I don't think fighting dog just cause of chopped ears and tail. Most people do associate the two cause many fighters do it to their dogs.

I can't imagine how it could have.We have a huge dog fighting problem in this city(kind of ironic that Vick ended up here of all cities)and there was a recent case of a man who was arrested for pretending to be a vet and pretty much butchering the ears of fighting dogs....It's people like him who cause new laws to be enacted.

sorry we got off topic a little.if they have breed restictions such as the pitbull ban.all they r doing is making people choose another breed of dog which in turn may be more aggressive.people have to realize that genetics play a big part in agression.we can breed out animal agression and people aggression if we want to then no need for bans.that fighting question wasnt addressed to you miguel sorry.and i agree it can be nobel looking when done right.
