I can't imagine how it could have.We have a huge dog fighting problem in this city(kind of ironic that Vick ended up here of all cities)and there was a recent case of a man who was arrested for pretending to be a vet and pretty much butchering the ears of fighting dogs....It's people like him who cause new laws to be enacted.

It happens in more place then you think. When I had my Rottweiler pit bull mix that's the first thing they ask

Oh no need to...just thought I'd mention it along with the ear cropping incident...Some of these idiots even dock the tails of pit bulls.

And there is no derail Harley, imho. The cropping was contained in Doomiedee's intial statement and that is why i mentioned it was the only thing i was not in toatal agreement with...

mastiffs and other breeds can damage their tail when swinging it and hitting stuff.my dogs r natural but i dont want someone saying its abuse to dock tails and crop ears.it should be upto the owner and the vet.it doesnt really matter because you can rarely find a vet willing to do it now days.my vet will for now.our family owned dobbies with natural ears and they dont even look like the same breed.

i do like the american bandogge where they have a neo female and a male pit but dont know anything about personality

Awesome dog. But created for the weong reasons, so i do not know how they are, in general terms, mentally.

I hope that nowadys there are good breeders that respect this dog " breed" and maintain it as it should be maintained.

IMO the breeder is a problem even more often than the owner. It's them who determine a lot of how the dog will turn out character wise and especially it's their responsibility to find a responsible future owner for their puppies!!
Also, cropped ears at least look good but cropped tails..
