Awesome photo's Lucas! I would love to see some more pictures. That one of the resevoir or river is really cool. Thanks for sharing bud and nice catches.
HOw is your pond at home?

Anything around you can can eat or kill a human being?

Ive heard about Piranhas attack in some reservoirs, but tbh its lie or too much random stuff. Piranhas are pretty calm and are my last worry.

When Im fishing at MY STATE, I just fear about snakes, scorpions, spiders... Tbh, when you see so many nets and harpooners at the reservoir you notice that man is the real monster ..

Thanks man, I will try to keep it coming.

My pond is a bit forgotten, I was so unhappy because I lost my best peacock by my fault, It was like losing my dogs =/.

But now that the cycling time is almost finished I will try to catch some matrices kelberi at my farm.

I see some difficulties at it, but I will try. I plan to catch 6 couples ( the bigger the better), and bring then in a 270 L Tank in my grandpa truck, with a oxygen pump.

I may be overstocking then, but you know, some will die anyway, and I need to have at least 2 couples at my tank.

Im thinking they will be a pain in the ass to pellet train, but I now have a decent filtration and can give frozen fish or live food until its done.

I will try it and keep you updated! hope it will work and I will give you nice pics of decent kelberis at my tank.

Lucas I have transported quite a few larger cichla..12-16". SOme have had 4hr journeys back to my place. If you can keep the water from getting too hot and use a large tub. I used 29g rubbermaid tubs..the bigger the better. I would then run a large pump w/ airstone in the tub. Keep the water airated and circulated if possible. The main thing is to not try and bring too many fish home per trip. The best way for success is to put one bass per tub that way they dont foul and dirty up the water so much.

FOr your pond try 2 or 3 females and one male.

I look forward to your update.

Nice man, thanks for the advice.

My teacher said me I would try to put the water at 16ºC, so their metabolism would be almost stoped. Do peacocks survive to this temperature? If not what temperature should I put then?

And the reservoir water is pretty warm, wouldnt be hard for then to adapt to this very low temp even aclimating them?

I can use two recipientes to move then.. I have a tank, the same material as my pond, but it has a 310L capacity, that I would only use 250~270 L.

And I also have a huge styrofoam box, I think it has more than 100L volume.

The styrofoam box is ok, but how can I keep the water temp varying pretty low in a fiber glass tank?

Btw, I can use both at same time!

Lucas transport them in the water from the lake. Leave the temp alone. It will be best at the temp they are used to. Lots of oxygen, room for the fish to move and 1 fish per tub. Take pictures of your journey. Good luck. Im sure you'll do fine if you follow these methods. That super low temp will stress them out to much.

completly agree with you there is it mostly for re-sale or for food? look forward to seeing the updates on your kels hope all goes well!

Thanks guy, im really pleased with the advice, and I will try to follow it as I can since I agree with all you said.

Be sure, If I can I will take pics of the whole process.

Its for food.. The worst is because there is no fiscalization, they kill everything..

Now we are in the period of the protection of migratory fishes, and they just dont mind.. Poor native Prochilodus cearensis and Leporinus friderici and even Astyanax, they are all being massacred by the fisherman and the exotic fishes..

I dont really mind about the exotic fish, since they will find their equilibrium with the native sometime. But I was told that in the amazing reservoir we find real monster fish right here, there are fish receptors that are receiving something like 4 tons of fish per week. Imagine now it in large scale.. its a disaster.

They do it in all reservoirs, they jump one to another one, destroying them all.

Dont think we do it because we are all poor brazilian people its not. We have not hunger anymore, the government dont allow this, but people do it because they want more money and etc. Theyre not wrong, but at least they should do it in the right way respecting the fish and their necessity.

For long transportation of fish without oxygen and bags, yes the water is to be kept cold if possible. Airstone and if possible, move the fish with their stomach clear of food. Like this, they won't foul up the water during the transportation.
