Stingrays banned in Ny

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So are mine, I dont live in the 5 Boros. If however it becomes a state wide ban I will surely leave NY tho

Oh I didnt know you were on the island... thats very cool. I was worried about some of my Ray friends in NY thats actually why i started the thread.

Have any of ou actually read what I posted about US F&W said on this?
Did any of you actually follow up with the phone # for the DEP that I provided?, in this very thread???

NO! YOU OBVIOUSLY DID NOT.

All you guys have done is perpetuate what seems to be 100% BS...oh...and trash NY for no reason at the same time...way to go with being methodical and rational guys!
Too frikkin lazy to do any actual research at all, even when provided with the phone # to call....you'd rather spend 10 minutes typing and BSing on the forum than 1 minute finding out of it is actually true or not.
Rumours spread hobbyists without substantiation or verification are strictly BULLS@#T. This one seems to be just B S too!
and if you really can;t cut it in NY then you;re very welcome to leave! don;t let the door hit you on your way out.

This is why forums are lame!!!!!

Read every word, see the thing is I AM IN NJ, there isn't even a rumor here. I started the thread to warn/inform/clarify the informtion i recieved for the NY crowd. I continue to hear it from other people outside of this forum. If no one wants to actually call thats there perogative, if the title said rays banned in NJ i would have been on the phone before i typed it.

Hey David,

Yeah man, no clue I may be way off base or it may be a rumor, but I wanted to get the word I heard out there. Better safe than sorry

I think it's more of a rumor. Could be illegal to sell em in lfs. To general public that could potentially get hurt and don't know how to properly care for them

i think if you were to break that article down into segments you wouldnt be very suprised at any of the statements and just shrug it off.
if you then consider that this is one journalist of some paper looking for a story reporting about another story printed in another paper (usually based on an "unconfirmed source") and adding bits in then, its even less important.

try replacing the words "was caught with" with the words "owned/owns" and delete the word illegal and the article is probably more accurate.

"A man from Long Island was caught with [owns] the most impressive collection of animals, which included a king snake, lemur, hedgehog, marmoset, sloth, and a coati, a raccoon-type animal, all of which he brought to a child's birthday party in Manhattan's Upper East Side, New York City records show."

"Health Department records show that more than 24 people in New York *were caught will the illegal *[own] exotic animals, including stingrays, scorpions, snakes and a sloth the New York Post reported."

"New York City inspectors busted more than 24 people for allegedly keeping, selling or displaying exotic animals that are illegal to own."

im not about to check if any of the above animals are actually "illegal" based on what one journalist says after reading another journalists story about god knows what but tbh im shocked that without actual evidence any of you guys are taking it seriously.
there was an article over here last year about giant cat killing rats breeding on wasteland near me and tbh nobody batted an eyelid. to back up that story was another story days after that said its possible and was confirmed by **** . and then another with a pic of one of the dead giant rats (held out in front at arms length by a very short bloke :D ).

i think i would wait until there is written conformation from a decent source before you guys up sticks and move or start panic selling your rays. unless your sending them to me because if thats the case then its all absolutely 100% true and i had it confirmed by an unconfirmed source who was speaking to a guy in the lfs who works part time and was covering in the fish department. he also said there could be a fine if you sell them anywhere other than the uk.

all i can add is that it must be a slow news week over there atm ;)

That's a good point but I think the lack of facts is what's causing the confusion. Lfs and hobbyist say one us f&w and dep say different
