My friend FishNCash has been trying to get me on cichla for a while now. I recently picked up a couple ocellaris to test the water, and they have been very fun to keep, really enjoying their predatory hover and strike feeding style.

So when some baby kelberi became available, I decided to pick some up and see if I can grow them right.

Enough talk, here are the pics :D

Very nice Serg. These should grow out to be some nice bass. I hope you have patience to train them on pellets. They are rewarding once you have then smashing pellets.

Thanks dude, I hope they turn out nice. I see all this talk about WC fish, and from my experience with bichirs, WC are nicer. But if I get a half decent group of kelberi out of these I will be happy.

You can see the bahia packed away most of the blood worms, then the RA's from seamonkey, and last, the RA's from A+ ate a few worms but didn't fill up.

Should I be worried about the size difference between the smaller RA's from A+ and the slightly larger ones from seamonkey? Will they be able to keep up in growth to not get eaten?

Welcome to the bass addiction:D nice lil kels man! Keep us updated!

Thank you, I'm new to this so I don't have an eye for potential in these fish yet. I just picked some out based on Joes advice.

I'm trying to battle addiction and not go pick up an azul, but i kinda still want some orino.

Which is the hybrid, and between what? There's at least some kelberi blood in there I hope.

Awesome pick ups COhazard! Those will be some amazing Kelberi!

Try some frozen bloodworms. THaw em out into a small cup. Drain the liquid carefully once thawed. Crush up some pellets of your choice real fine. The smellier the better....like massivore. Mix those crushed pellets in with the blood worms. MIx em til the mixture is kinda pasty. Let em soak for a couple mintues(the mixture you just made). Now feed w/ a spoon. A little at a time. Feed in the same spot each time. Just a dab so that it wont hit the bottom. Once they are used to this they will slam the spoon. Each couple days add a little more pellets. Eventually they will be eatin the pellets you have been mixn.

Cohazard, are they in with any other fish?

wow you are very dedicated. That sounds like a lot of work. I normally just drop a chunk of BW in to feed the grow outs.
