Guianacara owroewefi?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here are my little guys, they are starting to explore, and the female is moving sand like there is no tommorrow, i will try to get some video soon.
Mine are definitely food oriented and seem to like just about anything-- but mine get NLS, Omega One sinking color pellets, Omega One shrimp pellets, freeze dried blood worms or freeze dried mysis. They like them all equally, love the freeze dried blood worms, naturally, kind of like feeding them candy (I don't feed frozen foods). The ratios have varied while I've had them, but currently about 70% NLS. But really they do well on either or both ime. I've fed and compared both for years and like both, most other well known foods are not as good ime. If you put a gun to my head to feed one or the other I'd probably go with NLS, but mixing in some Omega One benefits the red on the red head geos ime.

Main reason I feed freeze dried blood worms is it works well as a treat to trigger my wild angels and red head geos to spawn, which are in the same tank as (some of) my guianacara. Actually, my guianacara have spawned also, but I'd probably need to move them to another tank to save the fry.

I like mine (the sphenozona). Cool little fish, interesting behavior, not a well known fish but well worth having imo. Mine are feisty enough to hold their own with larger tankmates-- wild angels, red head geos, also have a couple in a tank with adult rotkeil severums-- without being a nuisance, themselves. Now just a question of timing and if these particular owroewefi look different enough from my sphenozona to get them. :D

No doubt they'll develop more color with a little more age, but looks like yours have some orange on the face? Any blue on their flanks? Looking forward to video if/when you get the chance to post it.

Do you have any video or pics I am interested in seeing yours also

I believe it takes a little time to get color, and that color is more subtle than many Geophagines. I've had mine a bit less than a year, a shot from today, and yesterday.

Just got them today and they are an awesome lookin little pair.I will post pics as soon as they get adjusted as it is hard right now as they are most of the time hiding out.

How did you find them. I would like the real bulky head ones. I really hope to find some soon...

I got them from Jeff Rapps, you will have to check his stock cause it has been a while since I got them. I bought mine as a breeding pair and already have some fry, pretty cool fish.

I got my pair to spawn and ended up with 5, here are some pics. I am wondering how long I should keep the female in with the fry?
