Members who we know have a lot to say but keep it in line do more than you know in a good way to help restore what we used to have down the road. We have every intention of weeding out those who can't so I agree with what you are saying 100%.
Instead of the usual type response I am going to go out on a limb and be honest here (speaking for myself only, not the staff as a whole). Please read from a member and not a mod guys because I am allowed an opinion too, to be fair.
It really upset me when guns were taken off the menu but i support a staff vote and resulting outcome (how we decide rule changes). The same few members who used sensitive topics, like these tragedies to push their government/politics on everyone really screwed us all, staff included.. I would love nothing more than a conspiracy conversation but few can leave government/politics out (kinda hard not to considering who could be behind most theories so i get that). But I am buying a new .45ACP and can't even ask opinions from members i respect. That's total crap...
I am staff and will back up the site leadership but just as a lot of members were mad at us (if we voted for or against it) for removing the topic, I was just as pissed off at those few that ruined it for the rest of us myself included...
Help me weed out those guys by reporting them or even PM to me, I'll ban them from the lounge after a couple slip ups and lets try and get our topic back in the near future. I'll work with you guys if you all can help me too. Post up of you agree and I'll lobby our case to the staff.
PS- if you guys use this post just to vent about mods or in general it really doesn't help our case at all, it will end up going no where.

As others in this thread have said im VERY opinionated and have bit my tongue hard on the various threads but just had to comment on this. The person who seems to pop up each time and escalate it, is one that appears untouchable, so whats the point in reporting it? I respect u guys, and am friends with a handful of u mods, plus a mod on one site myself(was two for awhile) so plz dont think this is mod bashing. But we can report it all we want but one main guy (and not david) push it to the next level and nothing seems to be done.
Personally I would LOVE guns to return (i got a new one as a gift, plus to celebrate my divorce, or maybe to try and cheer me up, im gonna get a 12ga SxS and tax stamp it to 10" barrels) and id rather discuss them with people here, old friends and people I respect quite a bit, but honostly it was one guy that escalated it to that level and I dont see it happening. Sure we have a couple minor scuffles here and there, but that was an issue we didnt seem to have too bad until again, that one guy.
I hope this post makes sense. For the first time in 3 weeks, me and a coconut flavor friend are hanging out.

PM me then. If you don't think reporting it is effective I would happily take a look myself. I offered that in my post. It beats the alternative of all of us watching one moron ruin it for everyone else.
Please remember we may not read every post the same as each member. We have countless things to action each day all over the forum not just the lounge. It blends one day into the next and we may not notice some trends you guys see with a member in particular. That could be helpful. We may just see another "thread going downhill" and the member just be another cleanup. (only said to offer perspective)

I never really noticed if the same group of people were gettin into it over guns and politics but its easy to spot a derail. As often happens in sports, the retaliation or responds to the derails often caught the most attention. Good luck finding a solution for that as it'll always be easier to close a thread then to look at where it went wrong and reprimand that person without hurting feelings or creating an altercation
