Fish Usually Not Kept As Pets?

Kept five shad after a fishing trip and tossed them in (not thinking) my old 20 gal with a blue gourami and 5 inch common pleco. Woke up the next morning and all five had holes chewed in them. Changed my view of plecos for life.

Nah most likely from stressed out. All shads I tried to keep in the aquarium were like that and have all bloody holes all over on the body except I have no other fish with them that time.

I've had that happen as well.
 
I have a brook trout in my tank ;), see the native section for pictures sometime in the next week.
 
Pretty sure my small mouth at the time had him for lunch
