I always here about people boiling or using extreme heat to kill any unwanted bacteria or prior diseases, but will the exact opposite work? If I have a big deep freezer will freezing the piece if wood kill off all the unwanted items? For those that use breech are you afraid that it will soak into the pores of the wood and then eventually come out into your tank? I've got a log from a sycamore tree and it is hollow all the way through with a hole in the too as well, would be a great piece, but not sure the best way to get it tank safe.

Guys keep in mind certain types of wood are simply no good. Many of them have saps and resins that are dangerous. So even if you boil them they're not necessarily safe.
