40g breeder Ideas (my hedgehog just died)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry for your loss. Hedgehogs are pretty cool little animals.

Could try a type of gecko or frogs. I don't have any real experience with either species but they're pretty cool too.

Thanks ,I was thinking about maybe a terrarium set up, but I know that the amphibians can get kinda costly. Although I can definately get access to them.

If I was to make a terrarium what combination of amphibians do you think would work well ?

Well I know you can combine various species of frogs, salamanders etc together providing you chose the right species.

40g breeder is the minimum for an adult bearded dragon, If you get them out regularly and take care of them its okay. adult beardies aren't particularly active. AS long as they can thermoregulate it is all good.

Also I already have a bearded dragon :)

nice suggestions though, I do like Uromastyx's but not sure I want to get any more heat lamps
that is the minimum, but i like to tell people that larger is the minimum, so the animal ends up in a larger cage. if you dont want a lot of heat lamps, maybe a trio or so of crested geckos? you could do a nice planted tank for them, and they are out and about at night.

most people advise against it, because the toxins from each animl may hurt another. Theoretically you could get it right, but there isnt much info out there on the subject

Oh I see so if I was to attempt that kind of community set up it would be pretty much just guessing and hoping. not too much a fan of that Idea.

I was really interested in having it as a combined land and water paludarium, any ideas what I could stock in such a set up ?

Dwarf indian mudskippers. i know they are fish, but they're kind of amphibious

that is pretty cool,I will keep my eye out for mudskippers

there is a reptile and amphibian expo in my city next weekend, so I figured if I am going to get something... it will be then. so its niec to have ideas
