Very nice hardscape. Love the addition of the fine twigs, combined with the right amount of light, very natural looking...

Thanks!

Looks great! How do you have your light set up? Is it hanging or just resting on your tops?

Thanks, the lighting is a single 48" "freshwater bright" Beamswork LED fixture that is simply resting on the class tops.

Very cool. I like the multispinosa idea especially.

Thanks, although I'm afraid I am going to have to remove the multispinosa soon as they have recently been really taking a beating from the others.

looking good. Any pics of the argentae?

Thanks, I'll try to get some updated pics posted soon!

Is the driftwood hanging from the top? How do you do that?

The large piece of driftwood in the upper right is loosely wedged between the front and back of the aquarium. I then just stuck the smaller branches up into the corner so they'd stay in place.

Figured it was about time for another update..

Scape and stock have changed yet again. I really thinned out my stock this past week to make room for my future big guys (H. pearsi, V. argentea, and P. synspilus). I am also now down to 2x C. sajica. I lucked out and ended up with a male and female so hopefully they will pair once they mature; the male is already turning into a real head turner! I also added a group of 7x C. chetumalensis not to long ago and will thin them out once they begin to pair off. I'll most likely end up keeping a trio of them..

Stock list:
1x H. pearsi
1x V. argentea
1x P. synspilus
2x C. sajica
7x C. chetumalensis

As for the scape, I ended up having to tear my tank apart to net the fish I traded in to my LFS so I decided to start from scratch. I wanted a simpler, more "roomy" scape this time around. This is what I came up with...

Thanks!

I just added a small group (1m/4f) of Black Yucatan Mollies the other day as well to add a bit of movement. The cichlids seem to be leaving them alone, so I may add a few more. I'm also really liking the way their solid black bodies contrast with the cichlids colors.

On another note, I haven't had any sort of catfish in this setup before but have been considering it lately. Any suggestions? I was initially wanting to make it a Mexican biotope but simply can't convince myself to let go the sajica, as the male is such a great looking fish! So, the two species I have been looking at are Hoplo cats and Brochis splendens. May end up going with the Brochis's, as I can't seem to find any Hoplos.

Decided to re-scape the other day. Here's an updated FTS..

Thanks guys!

Very nice. Looks a lot brighter now with the wood down

I actually added a 10 watt spotlight over the right side, so that's why it's quite a bit brighter.

Well I am a big mnt. biker as well as a motorcycle rider so one of my Christmas gifts this year was a GoPro Hero3+. Of course, the first thing I thought to do was to take a vid of my tank! Quality is a ton better than my previous videos which I took with my crummy cellphone. The overall brightness and color is much more true to "real life".

Here's a short clip of the full tank. I'll try and get some "fancier" footage later as the camera is waterproof.
