Fish Art

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Definitely new ones on the way. The next set will be; Orino x2 environment, temensis vignette, azul vignette, and kelbi pair vignette. The orino piece is going along well, hoping to finish it in a week or so :D But the compositions on all of them are laid out, just a matter of finding time outside of work.

Definitely looking forward to these.

Hahaha, that is quite the compliment, thank you!

Cool! Oh boy, looks like I may be doing freshwater species for a while. And I'm totally ok with that!

amazing! I also thought the first one was a photo. Impressive

Haha, glad that first one appears "photo-like". I use various styles in these fish paintings. Some of them are done utilizing more photo texturing/ manipulation. The same tricks used in concept art for film and games. Others are more hand painted.

I enjoy using these techniques so much after years of doing it for concept art that I decided to create fish paintings with the same methods. Not sure if I've seen anyone else do it before. :naughty:

If anyone is interested in how I use these methods for concept art, my "industry" portfolio can be viewed here http://javier-lazo.com/

So I finally got around to finishing my first Cichla painting! Took much longer than expected, but it's because it turned out to be a more complex composition than I had originally intended haha. I'd like to thank the community here for posting so much awesome reference material! Makes my life so much easier :D And a special thanks to Gangster, Jacunaba, Kendragon, and HULON for their help with images. I've learned a lot about the various differences and similarities between the Peacock species. Can't wait to do some more paintings.

Unfortunately, I'll be taking a brief break to do some concept art for a book. However, as soon as I'm finished, more paintings! In the meantime, hope you enjoy The Orinocensis.
