No one said, Jason, that they won't eat mice if they get the opportunity.
But let us face it. The chances of one individual cichlid catching more than one mouse a year are zilch, or nearly there.
And mammalian protein is not to their benefit, as mcdonalds is not to ours.
It is ot the mouse per se ( i also feed lots of mice and rats to species that thrive on them ). It is the harm to the jaguar if fed regularly and the toll on water, in a closed system.
I have kept many a snapper in big tanks, and i know what the effect of mice guts and fur in a tank is.
Im not agreeing that its good for them at all. and im not trying to argue with you but rrampage did state that they dont eat mice in the wild which is why i mentioned that if they had the chance they would. that is all.
