Prego Ray Behaviors Just Before Birth

Looks like she is going through the motions so i took a quick vid? Seems she is having contractions, she totally quit eating, shes panting etc

Anyone else experience this kind of behavior from a ray about to give birth?

Yes my motoro female did the same thing woke up nexted morning to another litter...i thought something was wrong with her because i was not expecting anything from her for at least 20-30 more days

My old motoro girl constantly was bumping in the corner like that towards the end of her pregnancy. Hopefully all goes well.
 
Is there any "pre-spawn" behavior also?

Think I looked something like that.. lol GL w/ another litter! very pretty momma!

actually one question, have your females always been secluded into a small area or have they birthed in larger areas and was there a difference in their laboring ect that you've noticed? always was a curiosity of mine why generally the prego females are sectioned off into smaller areas instead of vise versa? or is it just because more rays on the otherwise ect? or is there an actuall reason for it besides?

A lot of times it is because other rays will pick at the female or the male may beat her up. Another reason is to keep the pups separate from the rest of the rays. They could get eaten or trampled.

I try to keep them in the comm usually so the males knock them up again after they give birth but this time around my other big female kept nipping at her and she would quit eating. She has just been doing alot better this pregnancy being secluded from the comm
