Male or Female Festae?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
this female was green and I was told male. But I knew she was female and I got her for my male. Her red comes in within minutes if put in the right place.

Are you talking about toward the second half or first half of the video, or were they both females? I notice the one toward the second half of the video has very vivid black stripes and the reds are considerably more intense in the face and especially the tail. :)

Hi i can say pretty sure that you have a male because females get better color by the time they get that big in size

I am 100% sure its a female:) if you look closely, you can see the red coming in around the face and head also. but there is more than one indicator with my decision of determining it as a female:)

the one I focus on most..

She was like yours but all green/blue no red. When dropped in the tank about 30min later she became like that.

A good sign for your fish to be female is the smoothness no spangling at the fins at this size. The red is just not showing that's why.

that one I cant say for sure yet.
U got spangles on the dominant yellow/green body. Fins are colored up so not really pale so that helps.. The top head area looks solid green. It's showing more closely to male at this point. And I think it's a male.

Please continue their updates. congrats on acquiring them.

Thank you for everything, and I will try to post updates of their progress. :) the little Festae has some if the spangling on the body and the fins, but it is kind of difficult to see with the photos. I will fix my light setup and take some pictures with my DSLR camera to help show it better.
