Poster of Cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looking good! I noticed two things that should be corrected (sorry if I sound like a nitpicker):

1) The fish shown above the name "black gullet cichlid" is Thorichthys aureum (or perhaps maculipennis). The name 'black gullet cichlid' is synonymous with yellow meeki, Thorichthys pasionis, located below.

2) The latin name with the yellowhump eartheater is incorrect. I believe you have Geophagus pellegrini pictured, not Paratheraps microphthalmus (which is correctly labeled on a nearby fish). Paratheraps micropthalmus also goes by the name Chuco micropthalmus - I'm not sure which is now considered more appropriate.

Hope this helps,
Ian

Hello, don't worry, you are not an nitpicker, all your help it's welcome !, i made some changes on the Thorichthys, tell me if it's ok, i'm not fluent and maybe i don't understand well what you have explained ^^ sorry

For the
yellowhump eartheater you are right, i made an Copy of the name of other fish, and i forgot to change it

I changed the scientific name for micropthalmus

Thanks for your help

Too much to ask to separate central and south american cichlids on two posters? Don't mean to make you put in a bunch more work. I think a lot of people would like that though. Mexico is very far away from Brazil!

The more difficult for me it's to find good pic and to clean them, after it's easy to make the poster, but i'm not sure to know all those cichlid and put them in the good one, Sa or CA.
And it's more work, "I think a lot of people would like that though", i don't know, i made something like 10 poster, and i don't think that one member had print one of them ^^, so if somebody help me, by telling me hey boy, those fishes are in Sa and those fishes are CA it will be difficult.
In some PM some members told me to do an poster of CA SA Cichlid together to not separate some genus.
But your idea it's an good one, i need more time and little help
Cordialement
