New kids on the block

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is how much standards have changed since 2006

I got this WILD caught bd and it was 100x better than other Leo on the market an long before the term Leo/bd

This was imported by pier

This was one of the first bd imported into the UK long before they was being captive bred

You would class that as Leo/bd now but I know for a fact it was wild caught bd

And this is what it turned out like

Do you still say it looks like Leo/bd or would you put a new label on it like thousand island

The truth of the matter is that what that bd looked like at 10" you would have had no choice but to sell it as Leo/bd now because the standards are so high

But as a adult it would get bd money

They both look good. Hopefully they will get along this time. Keep us updated as they progess..

Wow this thread when from nice rays to a turd samich. T1 I'll get you a ladder or crane to get you down from that pedestal that you're stuck. That way you can have a conversation without ending up looking like a stuck up moron.

I have what you would call a bdxleo. Imported and sold as a bd, has big white spots, light eyes, dark background even has trim spots that go all the way around and a high number of them, just they are black and some are coming back with faint hints of white. I have no problem calling it a bdxleo. It is a great looking ray. The classification doesn't mean jack other then a status bracket you want to put yourself in. My ray has even been called a low grade bd, but it really doesn't matter because in the end people pay for high amounts of spots or the classic look. Regardless of what it is. Only the sellers try and claim bd to get more money. A lot of hobbiests like you clearly are claim bd to make yourself feel above the rest. That is the clear reason you have any fish. Once you can come down with the rest of us that keep fish because we like them then I think people will treat you better. Until then expect to be blown off or called out. I mean a guy said it was a nice fish tossed out a label for it as what he thought it might be and the first thing you say is it is better then his. Dbag move T1, dbag move.

Before you jump in with your sly comments this was a personal argument between me and Ade

Which should have been kept off a forum

I was good friends with him for years and talked daily

Then over a fish of all things we fell out yes a fish

So you know nothing about what went on

By him even posting in my thread he was baiting me

As for what's a bd and what's not

My point was the grading has changed a lot over the last 5 years what was classed as a good grade bd back then has now been down graded to Leo/bd

In my first post I never said it was a bd or Leo/bd Ade just felt the need to point that out to bait me

I'm done with this for a bit now

Personal argument that seemed to start off him just saying nice fish and a possible label. Seemed innocent enough. My comment was based off a long history of comments and replies made by you. Granted I have been in and out of rays, but that didn't stop me from checking in on the ray section all the time. As I knew it was just time before I was back in. It doesn't matter what went on between you two. The point is from you lists of replies you clearly feel that you are better then everyone else. Just because you've lightly stock a big tank with higher end black rays. Anyone and most that have seen your replies and threads can clearly see you feel that way. That is why you get in so many arguements and people start fights with you. Because they know how your quick to defend your holier then thou attitude. Unlike rays there is only 2 classifications of keepers. 1 is those that have them because they like them regardless of what they are. The other is out to impress and show off their status symbol as they think they are better due to the type of fish they keep. You clearly come off as the latter.

As to the classification yes it has changed. It has gotten higher with many different classifications but that is just the way it is and will be with anything. Everyone is looking for new ways to charge more money for what they have. In the end all you can do is buy your fish based on what patterns you like and go accordingly. Regardless of costs if you want it you can get it. You just have to work for it. I am far from well off but I want things so I work for them and I am happy knowing it took hard work to get what I want but I got it.
