How much would you pay for a used tank?

Looking at a brand new Marineland bow front corner tank (guy said it was 75 or 90 gallon, wasn't sure which) for $150, tank only... seems like a good deal, but concerned at cost of canopy and building a stand for this odd shape...

I got my 180 off of CL. I paid $500 for the tank, stand, and lights. No lids, but I was happy with the deal. Good deals are out there, patience is key.

Large tanks generally don't sell very well here. I bought a 220 glass drilled with cabinet and sump with boxes of stuff for 250. I bought a brand new 240 acrylic from a guy that he got it from a salvage freight place for 400. Still had the sticky paper on it. Had one scratch that you couldn't see when it was filled. I watch craigslist every day. If it is a real bargain, I go straight there and buy it. If they are asking more then I will pay, I wait them out a few weeks and then shoot a lowball price. Sometimes if there is a package deal that seems like a lot, when you see what all is there it can be a real bargain. I just share the spoils with my friends when that happens and we all win. I would never pay in advance.

I pay no more than 1$ a gallon with or with out stuff. I paid 100$ for my 180. All I needed to do was resilicone it and install bullheads

I have managed to get some sweet deals off craigslist but I live in San Diego where theres a lot of people. I got a 500 gallon with everything but the stand for 1500. I got a 300 gallon show tank with everything and the stand for 900. I got a 400 gallon wall tank with a curved front and nothing else for 500 delivered. I have gotten a 240 with the stand and filters for 500 and another 240 with everything and the stand for 400. Not to mention the countless 50 to 100 gallon acrylic grow out tanks and plecos tanks. I usually pay a dollar a gallon for tanks 100 gallons or less. Oh and all of my tanks have been acrylic I do not like glass to much. On the other hand the 2 tanks I have inside my house I bought new for a 300 gallon it was 3300 with the stand and canopy and a 180 that was right around 2k with a stand and canopy because with used tanks you can usually tell they are used lol and I want nice tanks in my house.

I got offered a 125 gallon 6 foot long for FREE!! Yes FREE! And stupid me wasn't allowed to get it
My dad said no I don't have room for one yet next house I wanna get a big one so I can put it in the garage so no problem about space in house lol

reading this thread makes me feel better about my deal. I now know i paid a good price. 125 gallon with glass lids for 100 bucks. only used for 6 months. i had to drive about 30 miles to get it, but well worth it

Yeah new tanks are so overpriced. Only a very select tank makers out there actually give awesome prices. Some tank building companies are just over their freaking EGO. A place near by wants 1600 for a 150g with a shoddy built stand. The other store a few more miles away wants 3600$ for a 300 nothing else. My next tank is being built by Glass Cages and their the only people I see who actually don't cheat customers for glass.

I paid 300 for a 120 with canopy, stand and lights. it also came with a sump and complete plumbing. included was like 100 lbs of texas rock and gravel. two red tin foil barbs at 8-10 inches, 3 parrots at around 6 inches and two catfish. i think i got a hell of a deal.
