Wallago leerii growth rate?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My impression is not very fast, perhaps 6"-12" a year the first few years.

I sense you know their threatening reputation but it is heavily dependent on circumstances. My ~2' one was very shy in a 4000 gal pond in the presence of ~100 diverse tankmates but if it wanted to, it could easily kill any of them and things like this have been reported before.

Thanks for the info sir. :)

I guess i'll keep it in a specie tank for quite a while just to be safe and later on move it to my aquapond. Its my first time with this specie and i found it quite hard to gather info. I think it was arapaimag's that took out 3 footers.

What does this mean? Who took out what? Yes, Michael has a couple of ~5' ones in his 52,000 gal tank. The latest I knew of anyway. And if you mean that his female leerii killed some ~3' fishes in his tank, like his Bagarius yarelli, then yes, he reported it.

I mean ive red that his 5 foot leerii took out something like a 50 or 70~ inch arapaima:/
Thats the reason i have no plans as of yet to put it in a community. However, ive seen quite a lot of pics and videos of leeriis in a community. Its just hard to get feedback from those though.
