how big of a tank would i need

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
also i have decided to try to get 5 tiger loaches instead of the eels hopefully i can narrow the stock down to 200 gallons or atleast 250 gallons

yes but its more common for them to reach 24-30in.
and what do mean by "You might be better off getting more tiger loaches instead of one of your species"
what species are you talking about the eels would you want me to get more tiger loches instead of the eels

I think you should ditch the larger cat species and get a gang of tiger loaches. I keep 4 in my 210 and they are by far my favorite. You could get like 6 or 7 tiger loaches the eel and a couple of pictus and you'd have a nice tank going.

that would be cool but i love my catfish and i couldn't ditch them and i have decided to go with just catfish but would they be compatible together in a 200 or 250?
x5, schilbe intermedius: grasscutter catfish
x3, pimelodus blochii: 4-line catfish
x2, pimelodus ornatus: ornate pictus (if i can find some)
x2, sorubim elongatus: elongated shovelnose
synodontis angelicus: angel synodontis
Pseudopimelodus bufonius
chrysichthys ornatus

Whats the footprint on the 250? why not get the 250 and start stocking from your wishlist, favourites first, and see how it goes? Obviously they won't be full size but you will have to take that into account. You say 250 is the biggest you can do? Is that long term? Or is an upgrade possible in the future?

250 Is the biggest I can handle so yes the fish above have to be able to live in a 250 for life and chances are I'm not going to find P.ornatus so we can scratch out those
