what are the best spots online for some rare bichirs (particularly retorpinnis)? i may be picking up a gold dust palmas for jurassic aquatics but id like to find more sources and more specie.

If you haven't already, contact JA. They usually have some stock that isn't on their list.

Its all about availability on the retros. You should see them coming through in the next month or so, With us or other vendors

I bought a palmas polli that turned out to be a retro from a store called Aquatic Daycare in Oregon. I believe he still has some (4-5 inches); he's selling a bulk lot of them on aquabid and the individuals were $30 (or 3 for $60) plus shipping. I never did tell him about the mislabel because I couldn't figure out a non-awkward way to do it :(

or toyin.
+1 toyin (I've heard is pretty good) but since i'm in texas i have to buy from him through LFS which isn't the easiest thing since he doesn't tell you where one is........... however i did find one and i've gotton some pretty nice polys from him (or his LFS), but as far as JA they are my go to vendor

Toyin(Rehoboth Aquatics) and Jurassic Aquatics are the two best source to get Bichirs in the states. From my experience, if you like surprise, then order from Toyin because you can't see what you are getting but for sure the fish is great quality and in good condition. If you are ordering from Jurassic Aquatics, you know what you'll be getting, obviously great quality as well.

"Hi, a bunch of internet fish nerds told me this bichir is a retro. You might look into that, but I'm happy with the fish I got from you either way."
