I don't eat at tiny diners that my waitress is the cook but I still don't get why i should tip for carryouts
I don't get why we should tip at all

I've cooked and prepped at a Japanese joint before. Also bussed tables and washed dishes at another place. I still feel the same way about tipping. It's no secret I don't like the concept of tipping if you've been around here long enough but don't assume I'm any of those things you said just because I feel that way.
And why is it only tipped jobs that people feel sorry for? I worked my ass off at many places that provide services to other people without a thank you from the customers. Why do servers in the food industry get more compassion?
Why don't people just ask for an explanation from people who feel like I do about tipping instead of jumping the gun with name calling and things like that? Not that I'm necessarily directing this to you, but just in general

but if I was served by kels I'd tip her good just because I know her from here

one other thing if you don't like tipping.... it would be entirely appropriate for you NOT to frequent places that tipping is expected... to expect good service when you are known as a bad tipper would be a little naive.. once again nothing personal but why would someone spend time busting hump for a non-tipper when the guy at the next table tips well?
the fact that service people get paid less per hour on the assumption they are going to get tips? the ONLY EXCEPTIONS to minimum wage laws in this country are for service(tip) jobs...and don't get me started on the greed it takes (by business owners, but of course not all) that make minimum wage laws necessary,,, and not to be rude but you obviously haven't spent DECADES(like some of us)having to deal with mad customers.. nothing personal ... just stating reality in the service worldjust some perspective...my last job,one of many, was 10 YRS, MINIMUM WAGE +TIPS...JUST like every other job I HELD FOR 30 YRS...not looking for "sympathy ".... a living wage would do.... one other thing if you don't like tipping.... it would be entirely appropriate for you NOT to frequent places that tipping is expected... to expect good service when you are known as a bad tipper would be a little naive.. once again nothing personal but why would someone spend time busting hump for a non-tipper when the guy at the next table tips well? and you need to try and pay rent on $3 an hour +tips,,, just reality
