super worms, market shrimp all this are lower grade protein with higher fat content. if you wanna go crazy give it salmon belly.

I'd suggest lean fish and lots of it, especially whole smaller fishes - and as much as he can eat (watch your filtration). Fatty fish are ok once in a while but don't make it a staple under any circumstance IMHO.

I don't want to feed live but do you think he'll eat a dead one. The reason I don't want to feed live is cause he's blind I don't want him chasing around fish and banging into the glass and breaking its nose. Plus it's a big disadvantage.

Being blind im going to bet he will be very opportunistic. Try frozen silversides ans place them close to him without spooking him see what he does. Fatty fish will be ok to get him bulked back up a little but as tbtb suggests you dont want that to be the staple long term as it could afect the internal organs adversly. Pellets wont put weight on him very fast. I use pellets as supplementation only. Natural foods will give a better growth rate imo and ime

Doomiedee, you know me better than that, bro. I am a strong proponent of avoiding live feeding everywhere it can be avoided (no offence to MonsterMinis but to its each own... plus what she is doing is a rather special prep). If nowhere in the post it says live, as in my post, I'd always assume we are talking prepped/dead foods. Live feeding is special and hence must be explicitly stated.

Well what fish would be good other then tilapia? It definitely will eat dead feeders. I feed him about 20 dead convict fry. Him and the wolf fish was going to town

Check out your local fish markets/shops. I thought we already touched upon it somewhere - I used to buy 25 lb box of a marine fish "spot" for $15-$20. One can also catch their own, just need to be careful how one processes it. Or check out ethnic stores, like Korean and Chinese stores carry all kinds of unusual stuff in their frozen sections. Make sure it is "as caught", nothing added whatsoever.

There is nothing wrong with tilapia, seafoods, squid, prawn, mussel, etc. It is mostly about what one can afford, I'd think.

Just want to know whats the big issuse with live fish been using live fish, with other foods of course for 20+ years use about 400 every week never had a problem. I think its the stores who sell more than the live fish. I dont buy feeders from petco or petsmart cause they are usually horrible. Live fish earthworms and cut tilapia have never failed me fattning up a skinny fish. Been feeding my male MARBLE GOBY live fish for almost 5 years never had a problem, and most of the people on here who dont never get the same fish past 10 inches 12 if they are lucky, mine is 17 inches now.
