Alex Rodriguez to be banned from MLB?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
U still need the talent. They still are some of the best.

I'm not sure that a rod was on the path to the hall of fame without cheating. He started so early. I think he'd have Jim thome/frank Thomas/Gary Sheffield type numbers without cheating. Remarkable for a middle infielder but do you consider those 3 great or just good?

Thome was your text book big bat clean-up hitter with a great eye not sure if he had enough defense to be in hof. Sheffield was a very good well rounded player but probably in the group of just missing hof. Thomas should be first vote hof, his first 8-10years are as good as anyone who has ever played the came and are good enough to forget his lack of range n the field. Plus Thomas has probably the best ped quote I've heard, when asked about his size he said he jst comes from a big family and has a couple of 300# sisters he could show them to prove it.

Yes, good players but not greats among greats.....which is where steroid had pushed some of these players based on stats. You prolong any of those guys prime 3-4 years and extend the back end of their career to a productive player, they'd land among the all time greats too

FRANK THOMAS...HOF... IF NOT IT'S A CRIME

That'll change when they admit bonds lol

Bonds wont get in, and the reason why is greater than the fact that he used steroids, it's the fact that it was such a high-profile embarrassment to everyone involved and baseball as a whole... most people involved with baseball seem like they'd rather pretend Barry Bonds doesnt exist. He brought such shame to the sport.

Actually the reason he won't get in is absolutely no one liked the guy, not even his own team. Bonds is definitely hof when it comes to being a jackhole and baseball writer's have a longer history of putting their personal feelings ahead of doing their jobs.

Bonds is a tough one. As is Clemmons.

In an era in which a lot of their fellow players were also taking PEDs, these guys were absolutely dominant.

I think it's more of a question of what to do with players from that period in baseball.

We'll see guys whose names weren't on PED lists but have inferior numbers make the HOF before some of the big names who were implicated. But what then?

Matt

The era in which many players were using PEDs started in the '50s and, unfortunately, will almost certainly never end.

Interesting...I wasn't aware that it went back that far.

If you read Jim Bouton's book, Ball Four, he talks about players taking amphetamine tablets called greenies before going onto the field. He even talks about a player on his team giving one to his own son, who was less than ten years old, before the team's player children game.
