Flushing live fish

the point of all my posts is this: if you put live animals fish or not in your own fecies and piss, flopping half dead in the dark, you have no buisness owning animals. because you clearly don't care enough to properly euthanize. typical american laziness. fish were shot were shot because that was the best solution (giant blue catfish) to euthenize them, if that touched upon some gun sensibility then oh well. and the cichlids were shot with a bb gun because my sister wanted to bury them and didn't want to bury headless fish.

Would it help at all if I went #2 outside and properly lit my septic tank? I and tring to figure out your specific boggle with my actions.

this was meant to anyone who flushes the fish alive, sick or not. just cut its head off before flushing, that's all that should be done. its the humane way to go about it.

only meant to defer people from putting their pet (fish or otherwise) in their septic tanks. I doubt that's good for it anyway lol. and unless your dealing with a giant, a firearm is not needed.

I think the rights and wrongs of this can be discussed (or argued) till the cows come home... To some people they are treasured pets, to others they are 'just fish' i know I have been on fishing trips, caught bait fish and left them to slowly suffocate until i need them and then i stick a hook on them. Ive also fed a 'less important' fish to one of mine and had it maimed and flounder around the tank for a while. On the the other hand ive also been genuinely upset when a fish has died. People will never agree what is right or wrong when it comes to animal cruelty (or not depending on the viewpoint) Im sure there are people that think it is totally unacceptable to flush a fish that would quite happily stomp a spider, or shoot a deer for fun. Im not pro or anti flushing by the way, just giving my 2 pence worth...

Gotta love the people flushing live fish taking the moral high ground, do you let exposure kill your dog for you as well?

If I'm cleaning my tank and a bunch of fry swim into my python then guess what, down the drain they go. If I am cleaning my tank and find a fish that is dead or close enough to it he is going down the drain if he fits through my siphon and if not he is going in the freezer. And I sleep well at night.

and nova8... was that directed at me? at no point did i say that i flush my fish. just saying that peoples viewpoints are different. using a dog as an example is like apples and bananas, totally different-at least to me, which is my point exactly. people are different.

The only time I've been able to flush a live fish was when I was still using feeder minnows and one was ignored for weeks (sooo tiny) so when I finally caught it, in a fever of HELL YEAH, F YOU MINNOW I flushed the freakin minnow.

I would NEVER do it to one of my pets though, they don't get given up on until completely dead. And even then I bury them in the garden, for nutrients for the plants. Or get them stuffed and mounted like I plan do it with my ornate bichir upon death (hopefully won't be for another 20+ years lol)

Oh I see I missed the part where as long as it's a feeder fish, it's OK to flush as long as it's accompanied by a "Hell Yeah". These fish are destine to die anyways so who care's if they suffer?

Just add the "Hell Yeah" as your cleaning the tank and all is forgiven.
