The only place that's successfully kept one is Monterey bay aquarium. They eventually had to release it because it started getting bored with its prepared food and killed some of the other sharks

Holy crap someone was successful!! I have to see video of that, I know they don't survive in aquariums for long, and nobody should try to do it by means of a conventional tank (unless its the size of Lake Erie), the only way I can possibly see working in keeping a white like that is just block off some bay so it can't get out. That would kill off the local ecosystem though. I'm no marine biologist so that probably wouldn't even work haha.

A big dream many people have had! And was crushed miserably. Its sad really to try and get a White shark into captivity. There's not enough in the wild for humans to keep trying

i know if i had a pocket as deep as bill gates i would see to it that it was successfully housed to adulthood and through out its life. maybe if a huge aquarium ever goes bankrupt and one of us has the funds to buy it maybe then we'll be able to see one in captivity because lets face it no aquarium that is open to the public will feed it live food if it gets bored with prepared foods.

I would say buy Lake Erie. HA

I saw a special on it a few years ago. A six footer was caught in a fishing net and was brought to the aquarium. They kept it out in the bay in a large enclosed area and after I think 100 days they put it in their huge open water tank. It was kept with bluefins salmon sharks and some other shark species. The great white was doing fine for a while then after about a year it started eating the other sharks. They let it go after the fourth one
