whats your take on this HIKARI product

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just my opinion here ..... but I've run Hikari only, Xtreme only and NLS only diets and NLS has shown better health and coloration over time, for me personally. Notice I didn't say growth. Growth does not equal health.

If you want a human to grow as much as possible, McDonald's and Papa Johns will definitely make a bigger human than eating a healthy diet will ever make. Size and health are two very unrelated things in our world. Calories will put pounds on for sure, but why are we all in such a hurry to grow fish as big as possible as fast as possible?

Why would we assume fish would adhere to a different set of rules? Our dogs ate Iams and got fat. They were definitely bigger than when eating Blue or Innova, but were they healthier? 5k on surgeries and a diet modification proved otherwise.

To each his own and certainly the choice is yours, but fast growth rarely equates to good health.

I have linked you to this like 3 times lol

You can get 44 pounds for $134. Beat that!
$3 a pound vs like $11 a pound for YFS pellets. It's not super premium but doesn't suck:
Krill Meal, Fish Meal, Squid Meal, Wheat Flour, Potato Starch, Corn Starch, Fish Oil, Calcium Phosphate, Betaine, Soy Lecithin, Licorice Plant, Wheat Germ

It's krill based and has squid (which I like). Protein and fat content are high. Most of these places like YFS are likely buying commercial stuff in bulk like this for a couple bucks a pound and then turning around and selling them for five times the price or more.

That has wheat, oat flour, and yeast too. You guys are all better off getting a good commercial aquaculture growth pellet, I've seen ones with better ingredient lists than this for 1/10 the price.

And the hikari product has corn starch which is just a filler ingredient. Thats why most fish look bloated after eating hikari products like massivore
(except bio gold)
same with the one you linked above^

I'd rather feed the all natural stick for a couple bucks more

My fry actually spit Massivore out in favor of NLS Thera A tonight. Lol. Couldn't believe my eyes .....

Never had any fish turn Massivore down, but the fry don't lie.

Yeah yeah yeah lol.... I'm sure I've seen this stuff already and it does appear to be a damn good pellet for an aquaculture diet. It's still a bit too high in fat and ash though and wouldnt know what to do with that much food lol but if I were running 100 tanks then I would be all over it for the bang for your buck.

The Grains and crap in the sticks come after a much more impressive set of fish ingredients than in the hikari garbage imo (Salmon Fish Meal, Special Mix of Plankton, Shrimp Krill and Dry Spirulina Algae) and is also about half the cost which plays a huge role too. The YFS carnivore sticks to me are my Massivore replacement cause I want all the effects of Massivore without the cost and with a better list of ingredients with similar percentages.
