Worldbelow nice fish too man love to see the updates

Oh SHshhhh!!! The Umbee game is getting more insane!!!! pushing the envelope for the hobbyist and giving them something new to enjoy! Congrats!!! This is something that has also crossed my mine from time to time. You created the first Man Made UMBEE lol!!!! I very curious to see what these will develop into. Still 100% Umbriferum, Interesting!!! Congrats! Heads up though, The haters will be coming but really what can they say. All the original strains are still kept and maintain by me. CONGRATS!!!!!!!:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

Thank you guys, I'll post updates for sure. I'd like to see other people grow them out to see how they develop too!

I hope to keep the 'gorillus' variant someday. i love my magdelana umbee, Ide have to keep both at the same time to really appreciate the differences...talk about major tanks all over the basement lol. Nice looking fish

Thanks! I know how you feel. I want to keep every variant of umbee there is available! I just picked up F2 Rio mags!

Here we go lol. Okay so have to chime in with 2 cents. These guys are doing something new with this hobby, they are not hybrid breeding, they are simply taking two separate strains of pure Umbee and crossing them for better looking offspring. This is no different then line breeding two separate strains of Umbee or any other pure blood fish. Example-Red Tiger Mota you have two red variants of the species hailing from two separate rivers and or locations points Rio Copan and Rio Blanco. Both are red variants of the RTM, if I breed them (and I have) the reason is to try for a more intense mix yet still maintaining the pure blood line without hybridizing the fish out. No different then what they are doing here. Personally I believe to frown upon such a thing is showing ignorance and a will to avoid change and progress. Many people have hated on Chris and his guys but especially Chris for the introduction of the Gorillas Blue and Black variant of the Umbee. Fact. However their resentment and jalousie for not BEING THE ONE compiled with ridiculous ignorance shows through for many to see. The introduction of these two color variants of arguably the largest New World cichlid in the World. Has not only breathed new life and excitement for this species (very much need prior to Chris Umbee bloodline were crap for almost a decade) into the hobby but it has also shown how a select few try to discredit and control the markets in many ways.
You got Rapps selling his fish F2 because he's too proud to ask for F1 from the source and calling them a different name, got Mr. Clean (everyone know who this is) who apparently has his hand in with TFD Magazine who recently dropped a submitted article on the subject (stating it's not the direction they are looking to go) because they have not been on each other's like list for a long time now. This I found so funny it hurt yet sad. Not a direction the leading fish mag wants to go hum. Lets see two new color variants of one of the prettiest and largest cichids in the world lol yeah would say that makes for a decent story...
Never the less every person can have their own opinion. 15 Years ago if you had a tattoo society branded you and restricted you, now they are almost excepted every where. No different here except here you have people burnt because they envy and wanted the glory. Well people cannot always have what they want.
Chris, Worldbelow and their guys are turning out some of the most stunning Umbee ever offered in the hobby and will be for a long time coming, so I guess the old school guys- although I am sure it's a hard pill to swallow for now, will just have to eat it regardless cause I know Chris and they have no plans to slow their progress...
Oh and about the Hybrid question posed, lol I dare someone to put their best looking fish up who has issues with this subject. I keep both pure and hybrid cichlids have for decades now. I would love the opportunity to smash your pipe dream and show you what a real Ornamental Show fish looks like! Remember both have their place in this hobby and Chris said it best their are no rules in this game IT'S A HOBBY son THE BASTARD IS OUT................:) Umbee power you guys are doing good stuff her man never let anyone tell you different!

WHAT WHAT!!! Tell em powda, hit em in tha jaw baby! Could not have said it better myself brother! Thanks for the kind words about my article being dropped as well, glad Chris and my other brothers aren't the only ones who see the crappy political game being played with these AWESOME fish! Lastly, I'm challenging you on the hybrid show fish (just because I want to see the beauty you describe lol)! UMBEEEEEEEE-POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! PS there will be some STRAIGHT AWESOMENESS coming soon for the direction the hobby "isn't going"!

With all these new strains and color variants of the umbee there are in the hobby today thanks to UMBEEKING, I have decided to 'mix' and make my own! Of course I still respect all the pure strains there are in the hobby today and that we should continue to keep them pure, but I was just curious to see what these fish would look like. I call these fish project M (for monster!) or Frankenumbees! I haven't come up with a clever name yet but that will probably do. These are purely for true hobbyists! I am curious to see what they will turn into as adults. I won't give out the exact recipe but let's just say they have RED AND BLUE freckles already.:naughty::drool::D Enjoy :)View attachment 944038View attachment 944039

Can't wait to see these guys in bigger dress! Bet they'll be stunning!

I want some world below hook me up! Chris it's amazing where the umbee journey progression has gone. Wb keep doing your thing and to the haters and box-orama types you continue to keep a stale frame of mind! This hobby has enjoyed fresh new variants due to vision and passion by UK , and WB taking it to a new level. Man Chris you know what the future holds - next let's bring in the red wine jacks......from the homeland and then onward south...

That isn't really correct, they are still creating a hybrid just at an intra-specific level, rather than inter-specific if two different species of the same genus are crossed, or inter-generic if they are from different genus, etc etc.

Petty technicalities aside, it will be very interesting to see how these fish turn out, some of them should be stunners! I would agree with whoever suggested not distributing them though, at least not initially. I'd rather see them grown out to a size where you can assess their potential before deciding whether to spread them around. At least there is no doubt about their origin though, although who knows what could happen in a few generations time.

people have no qualms keeping 'midevils' which are red devils crossed with midases... i don't see the issue here. there are supposedly bluer dovii and the more yellowish ones. same deal once you cross them together.
it's a friggin hobby. there will be mutts. i don't see how keeping F20 of something from the same pair that was brought into captivity 50 years ago being really that good, but yet it doesn't seem to bother people. there's no need to get all bent out of shape for something like this. what's the point of limiting distribution? there will always be people who choose to keep blue umbees, gorillas, rio mags, location x and just line breed them. they are all on this forum. there are always going to be ways to get those strains if you want it. it's not like he's crossing a buncha stuff together, mislabeling them and then unleashing them to unsuspecting people.

march on, brother! this should be interesting to see even though i have no space for these monsters.
