I recently purchased a 18" jardini on CL for my 180 and he looks a little worse for wear. He's got a white film all over him and keeps opening and closing his mouse. I was going to do 60% WC every 2 days and hope he will recovery fully.

Will that frequent of WC negatively effect him? Anyone else have any suggestions?

Those water changes won't hurt him as long as you're not stressing him out by big fluctuating water temperatures. You should try to medicate, I can't suggest meds with out seeing pics of the fish.

Could be slime disease. Maybe velvet. Without pics or more behavioral information, it's hard to say.

Changing a lot of water isn't a "cure." Unless you tested the water and found ammonia, nitrites, poisons, etc., I'm not sure it does that much.

Alright I got a video but it's pretty horrible quality, but it shows the breathing motion and maybe you can see the how the tail looks like it's burning off or something.

Oh and my nit/nat/amn/ph are all in check in this tank.

I have no clue but he does look rough. Ill bump this back to the top so maybe 1 of the really smart people see it & can help

I currently run a drip adding 50% tank volume daily to my 4 fry and grow out tanks.

As long as temp and ph swings aren't happening, clean water definitely does not hurt.

Dont do crazy big water changes, esp with big temp changes. Keep lights off, add salt. Let him heal on its own.
