Any negative effects from 70% WC 2 times a week?

I do huge water changes twice a week as well with no issues, but my fish are rather used to it. Its important to match the temperature of the water being added to the water already in the tank. It is also critically important to maintain sufficient aeration of the water during the water change. I do this by leaving some of my powerheads running, but an airstone would work perfectly as previously suggested.

Moved to setup and filtration.

There's white film or stuff on his mouth bc he is injured. Let the fish stay calm & don't scare it.

Add salt and air stones in the tank? Looks like its gulping for air I guess?

Ammonia burn to gills and damage to the fins is my guess. Clean water will fix if that is the problem.

I always do large w/c like 75% 2 times a week with no ill effect so far. It keeps my nitrate low, replenish minerals.

right size UV sterilizer with right flow rate would help your tank. It reduces chance of getting other bacterial infections and improve redox potential in turn improve your fish immune system.

Is your filtration adequate? I would vacuum all dirt with every w/c.
