What's your thought on the AC-110

Now that's what I call over filtration.What fish are you keeping.

It's one of my grow out tanks and currently has 5 congo tetras an ebjd and a white calvus. Like someone else mentioned it isn't really a problem till the water level drops. Then it can get....well....a little washer machiney lol.

can't go wrong with ac11O BUT.....Dollar for dollar pen 350 bought on sale is actually a better bargain.. Still I have 2 110's I like them...2 pen's for the same price is a better deal though

You really can't go wrong with it. I used to think h.o.b.'s we're all garbage since I use sumps or can filters but they are great to have if not for primary use as a back up. $65 is a good deal but I like to have what I pay for right then if I can so I payed $79 for mine at my lfs. I think petsmart and petco carry all the way up to the ac70 but don't carry the 110.

Those two stores wouldn't be the first places I would look when I'm ready to purchase one.I find their prices to be too high.

Great filters, hard to go wrong with one. I agree with the others that say to get two on your tank.

If you run sand they are the most expensive filter to maintain bar none. In the three years I have had mine I have been through 12 impeller shafts at 11 bucks a go and 4 impellers at 20 bucks a go. I would get maybe a week or two of good flow before the impeller shaft became noticeably worn. First the flow drops off, then after about a month the noise is so ungodly loud you have to change it. I did get about 3 good months out of it with the last shaft I was using an eheim ceramic shaft which lasted longer.

I have nothing but good things to say about my emperor 400. I have been battling BBA in my tank the algae stopped the filter and ran it dry a couple times while I was at work. Clean the impeller fill her up runs like new.
I got it at the same time as the AC and its still on the first impeller. Now I did get 4 defective units before getting a good one.

I am now retiring the Emperor, The AC is in the trash.

In their place I am running 3 Rena XP3s a CFS500.

I reread my post...sort of convoluted....I meant to imply 2 pens for the price of 1ac110 is a better deal....2ac110s would be better than 2 pens
