Any fish that eat fish waste?

I have a 29 gallon with this stock:

6 lemon tetra
4 cories
2 blue rams

( will be adding an angel or pearl gourami )

I have sand at the bottom and the waste from the fish is very noticeable obviously. I try to get all I can with my vac but I would like something that can help me out. I heard some shrimp eat waste? Or maybe a certain fish? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks

Even if it did you'd need it to poop sand or something other than poop if you're trying to eliminate waste on the substrate....


Best thing to do is sort your filtration out to prevent dead spots, or make them less obvious.

^.......in other words, create a current which moves the poop over to your existing filter intake better, by using a small powerhead.
Or also try your hand at live plants, put some short bunches in the sand to use up some of the poo remnants.

I believe there are misperceptions in fishkeeping, that certain bottom dwellers "eat" poop. actually, while grazing around the sand, they tend to stir & break it up so that it gets into the filter intakes rather than just laying there in clumps. A school of cories or small active loaches will do this in your tank size.

When I had my MBU puffer my lemonfin barbs and a few other of my big barbs ate the poop from the puffer. They ate it didn't spit it out. They would eat it as it came out.. But the fish that eat poop also has to poop so your back to square one. LOL

Ha! yeah I've seen fish eat turds here & there, especially behind carnivores - but they're not mainly eating that OR cleaning the tank.

Yup my older school of bbsd's would eat poop straight out of the butts of other fish! I thought that was pretty nasty and wierd but, come to find out as I watched the tank more it was pretty common in there lol. But, yet they wouldn't touch the stuff that touched to substrate...
