Once again, it'd take a lucky strike from the ray to kill the GATF. The GATF might not be able to kill them easily, but I feel it would be better equipped to take out the ray through repeated harassment strikes than the ray getting a lucky strike on the ATF with the stinger or cloaking it.

I'm ducking out for now, this debate is starting to become something of a Pyrrhic victory for me. Everything you throw out I debunk so you find something new that's big to throw out that I need to debunk. In order to be the ultimate, it needs to be more than just big, it has to be able to effectively kill its competition as well. Arbitrarily selecting random large fish isn't a good debate point.

Just because the ray has the capacity to possibly kill a GATF through sheer size, how would it kill a huge gator, paima or Nile perch? They're too big even for big Mekong rays. The GATF has the tools to do it, however. That's the reason why there's nothing in freshwater that fits the bill of ULTIMATE freshwater monster as well as the goliath.

not really.it would take a lot of harassment from a goliath to kill these, as their teeth aren't really designed for 'nibbling' however, the tiger will probably pick at the same spot, giving rays opportunity to get the tiger with the sting

To the point of my question: we've already established that a GATF is capable of killing large fish such as paima and gator gar. The tools that allow it to do so are the reason that I posit that the GATF is the ultimate freshwater monster.

How would a big ray kill a 10' paima? I don't think it could. While the GATF and ray really lack the ability to kill one another short of luck, the GATF's ability to kill other large fish is why it is superior to the ray in this regard.

lets spice this up then....as my new SW version has no elasmos, its no characins from now on...

cos they got tigerfish and other stuff like piranhas, just wanna keep the thread fresh

Hmmmmn... why characins I wonder?
