Thinking of new Ray filtration

So I'm currently running 2 fx5s for my 2 leo's and I feel that it could be much better on my 250gal. I'm thinking of going with a 90 gallon sump and 2 filter socks, tranferring all of my ceramic media and adding more. I would cut it down to 1 fx5 with it being full of carbon.

The only problems I see so far is that my tank stand only has a 13" opening so I'm going to be adding longer legs and temporarily keeping the rays in a stock tank. It will be a lot of work but having the extra water volume and going from 1200ish gph to around 2600 gph should be worth it.

Any ideas?

Pics? If your gonna take the tank down you options are wide open! I would use a 75-125 gallon tank for a sump.

Ya 90 gallon sump. See if you can work on an auto drip system. Either rolling reactor or the media you are already using plus some more. Make sure you have the bulkheads for the extra flow.

I have 4 1" bulkheads 2 of them are supposed to ne for returns. I might convert them to drains and run pvc behind the tank for returns since it will be against a wall now. But the teeth in the overflow probably won't be able to handle the extra flow. Still brainstorming!

Ya 2 one inch bulk heads will probably not be able to handle that much flow. But it also always depends on how you set everything up. Just plan to throttle it back if needed.

Real questions.... Do you have water quality issues now? Do you have health issues with the rays?

If you answered 'no' to both - you don't need to change it.

Zoo- this is true, but also the size of the rays matter if it is 2 pups and handled now, thats great but a year from now will it still suffice?

No health issues now, only because I'm doing 100 gallon WCs every other day. Plus they are just going to get bigger and eat more.

Going with a reeflo dart hybrid pump. shooting for 10x turnover and definitely 4 1" drains now its just a matter of finding time off work for all the labor.
